Photo of S&S Appreciation DinnerWe hosted a great crowd at the beautiful Camp Wondervu (soon to be known as Camp Granite Lake) to our annual Appreciation Diner and first ever Silent Auction in January. We like to take this time every year to thank those that make us as effective and successful as we have been through the past five years. The work we do wouldn’t be possible without everybody: our volunteers, event hosts, supporting organization and core organizers. We awarded t-shirts to the volunteers that reached their 20-hours of service mark. congratulations to: abby Burk, Dean Johnen, Glenda Guss, Helle Sorensen, James Jessep, Judy Lehmkuhl, Jim Schmaling, Norval Olson, Peggy Stevens, and Simon Jessep. Also congratulation to Eliza Zimmerman and Jane Marsolek for reaching their 100 hours of service mark! WOW! Great job, Ladies!

2016 S & S Appreciation Dinner & Silent Auction

We hosted our very first silent auction at the dinner and raised over $3,000 to help cover our insurance costs for 2016. Thank you to the people and businesses that donated items to be sold that made this possible, and also a BIG thank you to all the high bidders who won the great prizes. It is great that you can buy something that you need (like a NEW chainsaw! Lucky duck!), but it is even better when that money goes to a good cause! THANK YOU to our generous bidders and THANK YOU to our generous silent auction donors! We needed the boost for this upcoming year!

The dinner event is also a kick-off to our 2016 season. If you are interested in hosting an event, please download the application. Our application is not an accept-or-decline application. We want to gauge where you are in the process of hosting an event in your area in order to find good and effective sites to place in our schedule.

I personally want to thank Peggy Stevens and Cindy Goodrich, who put in COUNTLESS hours to produce such a beautiful, well-organized, scrumptious and purposeful event. Their time and attention raised the bar for our little organization, and we are super grateful for everything they did to help us. I would also like to thank Camp Granite Lake for their support while hosting us on their beautiful campus. Thank you to Qdoba for the delicious food and for hauling it all the way up here!
