Gilpin County Spring Fling Challenge

Gilpin county is challenging residents to harden their house for fire season by doing three easy, free things:
- moving Firewood 30’ away from your house
- raking Leaves & Needles, and
- cleaning out Gutters.
Get one entry per completed task to win a chainsaw* at the workshop.
Defensible space is not just cutting down trees — ember storms can cause a house to ignite, even if the fire is a long ways away!
- Learn the latest best practices for d-space and home ignition
- See Unacceptable Risk: Firefighters on the Front Lines of Climate Change, followed by a panel discussion of fighting fire from a firefighter’s perspective.
- Get information on the new terms and conditions of the 2015 fire mitigation grant
(*Must be present & Gilpin resident to win. If you are unable to complete one of the tasks, you may bring in a completed grab list (see Gilpin Extension website)
