SUMMARY:July Saws & Slaws Event - Spruce Canyon Drive
DESCRIPTION:Many of our neighborhoods in Coal Creek Canyon are “One way in/one way out”. In the event of a wildfire\, it is imperative that we create safer passage for the residents of these areas. We will hold a “Legacy Event” on Saturday\, July 13th: working together to cut trees down and process them for 4 hours and then we will join together for a Potluck Lunch. Bringing your own chair is always a good idea 🙂 \nWe will be working on 2 properties in particular\, creating a 40 foot wide egress in order to ensure better odds of escape through that roadway. We have a lot of trees to process so we hope you will join us! \nWe will gather for a Safety Meeting at 7:45am at the Coady’s home\, 29344 Spruce Canyon Drive. Please drop off your food items here. We will break into groups and saw\, “swamp” (drag slash) and chip until noon\, when we will have a Potluck Lunch. Please use the button below to sign up so we know who is coming. Thanks for helping us make this neighborhood safer in the event of a fire! \nhttps://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b0d4fada729a46-july

SUMMARY:Wildfire Preparedness Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Wildfire Preparedness Workshop\nApril 27\nIn this comprehensive Cowildfire workshop\, we will present the latest information that will help you prepare for a wildfire in our community. Much continues to be learned after the devastating fires of the last few years\, so it is important to stay informed of the current recommendations around how to prepare\, how to reduce the negative impacts and how to survive those impacts when they happen. Since we live in a fire-adapted ecosystem\, we know that it is a question of when\, not if\, a fire impacts our community. \nWe will be covering:\n– mitigating your structure and landscape\n– specific risks for Coal Creek Canyon\n– preparing for evacuation\, including for your pets & animals\n– ensuring you have adequate insurance coverage\n– resources to help with all of the above! \nPresentations will be made by: Boulder County Wildfire Partners\, Boulder/Jeffco/Gilpin County Emergency Managers\, Coal Creek Canyon Fire Rescue\, Saws & Slaws and more! (It takes a village to serve our community!) \nWe choose to live in our beautiful Wildland Urban Interface (WUI)). This session will help us be good stewards of each of our little pieces of it to the benefit of our forests\, fire fighters and community! \nWe look forward to see you there. Be sure to invite your neighbors\, too!!

SUMMARY:Saws & Slaws in the Hilltop 'Hood!!
DESCRIPTION:Come join us on Saturday\, June 9th as we continue to make Hilltop Rd. safer from fire danger. These neighbors have worked hard for years and it is paying off! \nWe will be meeting at 31600 Hilltop Rd. for our Safety meetings as well as our potluck meal. We are following a different model this year: \nSawyers should plan to arrive at 7:45 to drop off potluck items and have their safety meeting. We will give them an hour headstart so there is enough slash to keep the Swampers busy. Sawyers will be done before 11:00.\nSwampers will arrive by 8:45 to drop items and have a safety meeting. We will clear and chip slash until 1:00 at the latest\, or sooner if we get it done. Then we will have a fabulous potluck meal together\, sometime between 12 and 1. \nPlease bring: Gloves\, long sleeves\, water\, sun protection\, ear and eye protection\, and a helmet if you have one (we have extras). Please also bring a chair if you can. Use the sign up button below so we know how many people can make it. Thanks!!
