Saws and Slaws is a volunteer-based group helping neighborhoods implement fire mitigation. We bring neighbors and volunteers together for a morning of work doing fire mitigation (Saws) and then have a potluck in the afternoon (Slaws). It’s a great way to work with your neighbors to reduce the danger of wildland fire at your home and in your community. We are planning four events this summer in the Big Springs Neighborhood – roughly one per month. We have support from the Town of Nederland and Boulder County to provide free chipping for these events.
We will have an informational/planning meeting Thursday June 13th from 7-8:30pm at the Community Center. At the meeting we will introduce the Saws and Slaws program and then discuss the best way to group homes together to hold the four events. We already have over 15 property owners interested – if you are interested in having Saws and Slaws help you organize an event in your part of Big Springs or you are just interested in the program – please join us!
Thanks,
Alan
