Nederland Saws and Slaws will hold its final event of the season at the Nederland water treatment plant on Sunday Oct 26th from 8am-12pm, This is a sawyer only event – we will be focusing on just dropping trees — the town will take care of removing the slash at a later date. Our final Sugarloaf Saws & Slaws event of the year will take place Sunday, November 2, at the usual time: assemble at 7:45 a.m. to start work at 8 a.m. and quit work at noon. The project will be at 36 Canyon View, which is just off the top of Kelly Rd., at Jon Albert & Mary Grace’s place. We’ve done some great work this season. How to be a Sugarloaf hero: It’s easy–show up for Saws & Slaws Sunday September 21st at the corner of Douglas Court & Kelly West. While we usually aim to protect individual homes, this time we focus on one acre (owned by Boulder Valley School District) whose flammability affects many of us. Fire loves to race up a heavily wooded draw, as this one is, but our intervention can starve the next fire of available fuel. Saws and Slaws will be having their first Gilpin County project on Saturday, September 13th. The four home owners are super excited to host this next event and have been working hard at preparing their sites. There is a variety from flats sites to not so flat sites for you to chose from depending on how much of a workout you want. There will be plenty to do, all skill levels welcomed. A fantastic BBQ lunch and potluck will be served afterwards. And don’t forget to bring your lawn chair. Hello Friends and Volunteers, Nederland Saws and Slaws is asking for volunteers to help on Saturday, August 23rd with a large emergency egress fuels reduction project on the Summer Road in Nederland. The goal of this project is to reduce the fuel load on this road by 50% (thinning) to insure safe egress for residents and first responders during a wildfire event. This protects the only eastern egress for over 400 homes along Ridge Rd and Cold Springs. Please consider volunteering your morning to help make our community safer. Hello Folks – We have our second Big Springs Drive mitigation project coming up this Saturday Aug 16th from 8am until Noon with BBQ potluck lunch to follow. We need volunteer Sawyers and Swampers to help with mitigation property below Pinecliff trail which is the only egress route for over 100 homes to the east. We are  doing another Saws and Slaws Sugarloaf event on Sunday morning August 17th. The location will be on Kelly West at the corner of Douglas Court.  There will be lots of wood available.  Please note that we won’t have a restroom on site as there is no homeowner. The goal is to spend 4 hours  thinning trees and then enjoy a potluck together. We need sawyers, branch haulers, people who donate food for the potluck.
